We normally don’t plan two cruise vacations so close together, but after we booked our Thanksgiving cruise on the Royal we found a deal we couldn’t pass up. The Caribbean Princess (a ship we’ve been on before and enjoyed) began sailing out of Houston on a Western Caribbean itinerary. Houston is a reasonable drive for us, so we saved money by not booking flights—and the price of the cruise was crazy good. I highly recommend this cruise if you’re looking for a deal.
The ports of call were Cozumel, Roatan, and Belize City. We’d never been to any of those places and we enjoyed each of them. I’ll post pics from Cozumel and Roatan separately, but here are a few from the ship. I took lots of food pics this time since of course food is a big part of cruising. I don’t think we’ve ever had a bad meal on Princess. And one of my friends is always asking for pictures of the food, so here they are!
I did a full review of the cruise over at cruisecritic.com (the BEST resource for cruising—we don’t book a cruise or excursion anymore without checking out reviews on Cruise Critic) which hopefully will be up soon. I also have all the Patters from the cruise, so if anyone is interested in seeing any of those, let me know.
Here’s our boat docked in Cozumel (next to a Carnival ship).
Scott snapped this great pic of the sun setting as we sailed from Cozumel.
Here’s a pic from the galley tour as they prepare dessert plates.
And here’s a few of the amazing desserts!
At the International Cafe in the piazza, they were serving Croissant Donuts– I’d heard much about the famous Cronut but never actually tried one. Oh my. It was fantastic.
As you can see, we ate really healthy on this trip. Haha. One night we went to Sabatini’s, one of the specialty restaurants on board. Sabitini’s is always a treat–the food is a notch above what you’ll find the main dining room and the experience is just very nice. It was a 2+ hour dinner with many courses and enjoyed with a bottle of Chianti. Wonderful!
Before dinner one night we stopped at Crooner’s for drinks. Scott got the Charlotte Amalie Iced Tea…
And I got the Mambo Martini. If you go on this cruise do yourself a favor and get this martini–it packs the punch of two drinks but actually tastes delicious. It’s a good thing I didn’t discover it until the last night!
There was a balloon drop one night in the piazza while a band played, which was fun to watch.
Pics of Cozumel and Roatan coming soon!
