Don’t worry, about a thing

So Jamaica is pretty amazing.

Scott and I just returned from a weeklong vacation there, though it flew by so fast it only seemed like a couple days. We really enjoyed going to an all-inclusive in Cancun last year, and we wanted to try another one. The beaches in Cancun are nice, but we wanted to find a place with that idyllic, clear blue Caribbean water. After doing a lot of research we decided on Couples Swept Away in Negril, Jamaica.

We were prepared from reviews that the resort itself might not be as great as Excellence, the AI resort we stayed at in Cancun. But when we arrived we were pleasantly surprised. It’s definitely more casual-tropical than fancy-elegant, but the rooms were very comfortable, the food was INCREDIBLE and the service was lovely. And of course the beach, the beach—just stunning.

On top of all that, I really loved the Jamaican culture—the locals we encountered were friendly with a “no worries” attitude (which I could definitely learn from!). And their culture of music and dancing is so fun.

We took lots of photos, so I’ll start with some of the resort grounds.

All the chairs come with floats to take into the water, which was a nice touch.

The pool was pretty nice and I am usually a pool person, but since the ocean was so perfect for swimming we only used the pool once.

I love this shot of one of the paths that winds through the resort.

Scott took this great shot of one of the beautiful flowers. It rained a lot while we were there (usually for a couple hours in the late afternoon) and I love that you can see tiny droplets on the flower.

There were cats all around the property.

On a couple of nice evenings, we took a bottle of champagne and glasses from the room and watched the sunset on the beach.
