Paris Apartment Rental

I’ve already sung the praises of our cozy little apartment we rented in Paris—it was a great value, conveniently located, and had a charming Parisian feel. As much as I do love luxurious hotels, I think staying in an apartment provided an entirely different vacation experience.

Our apartment was in a very quiet residential neighborhood. We were the only vacation renters in our building and at night it was so quiet it was hard to believe we were in the middle of a big city. During the day the main sounds we heard were the bells from the nearby church and children playing in a park behind our building.

Because we cooked a lot of our own meals, every day we would drop by the boulangerie down the block for a fresh baguette. We visited cheese and chocolate shops, and tried to act like we weren’t clueless at the grocery store, reading labels in French.

Having a “home” to come back to also made us feel like it was okay to not spend every minute sight-seeing. We’d usually return to our apartment for a little while each afternoon to escape the cold, make coffee, and rest our feet.

I’m sure there are tons of charming Paris hotels and I’d love to stay at one some time for different Paris experience. But for this trip, I couldn’t have imagined a more perfect place to stay!

I found this apartment by searching through, but the rental company is called Paris Perfect.

Six Great Hotels to Inspire Your Next Vacation

On some vacations, you spend the days sightseeing and just need a clean room and a comfortable bed at night. It’s helpful to find an affordable chain of hotels that you like for these kinds of stays, ones that you can keep returning to again and again. For me, it’s usually a Hyatt Place or Hampton Inn.

But sometimes you find a hotel so special that it is a destination itself, worth planning an entire trip around. Here are six of my favorite destination hotels. Maybe one will inspire your next trip!

Lookout Point Lakeside Inn, Hot Springs, Arkansas
The perfect place for a relaxing weekend getaway. Sip coffee on your balcony and enjoy the stunning views of Hot Springs’ Lake Hamilton. Stroll the gardens, take a nap on the hammock or grab the canoe and get out on the lake.

Westin La Cantera, San Antonio, Texas
Spend the days at this resort relaxing on a lawn chair overlooking the Texas hill country, swimming in one of the pools and enjoying free s’mores by the fire pit. In the evening, hop on the free shuttle to a nearby shopping complex where you’ll have plenty of restaurants to choose from for dinner.
Tip: Book in May or September when the weather’s warm enough for swimming but the rates are lower than in the summer peak.

Inn on Randolph, Napa, California
This is rated the #1 B&B in Napa on TripAdvisor for good reason: it has the charm of a small inn and the outstanding service of a five star hotel. Rooms are plush and modern, the grounds are immaculate, and the gourmet breakfast is to die for. Sip some wine (a complementary bottle is waiting in your room) in the sun-drenched courtyard, then walk a few blocks to one of downtown Napa’s delicious restaurants.

Ritz Carlton, Kapalua, Maui, Hawaii
A beautiful Hawaiian beach, a stunning tri level pool and rolling expanses of lawn where you can watch the sun set behind the sea. What more is there to say? You’ll never want to leave.

The Greenbrier, White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia
Take a step back in time at this stately, white columned resort in the West Virginia countryside. This place has an almost never-ending list of activities to keep you busy, including a five star spa, golf course, bowling, walking tours, tennis and horseback riding.

Aria, Las Vegas, Nevada
This luxurious hotel is right in the heart of the Las Vegas strip. With an expansive casino, several pools, a spa, restaurants, a nightclub and a Cirque du Soleil show, you might never even leave the hotel grounds, but if you do you can zip over on the free tram to the Shops at Crystals next door, with high end stores like Gucci and Valentino.
